FEATURED PROJECT : CSA: DEALING WITH SEPARATION

Influencing Climate Change: Your Role at Work

Background

We provided an engaging learning module that was presented in a visually interactive format using a shed as the interface. Learners could select icons in the shed to access the information. The module allowed for exploration of the topics without the learner having to complete them in sequential order – learners could focus on the areas relevant to them. Interactions had no correct or incorrect answers, to reinforce the message that learners were supported and to encourage learning motivation.

Our Brief

  • We need to provide information and assistance to men and women on how to deal with the challenges they face after family separation.
  • Some of the issues we need to cover include communicating with the ex-partner, dealing with children’s reactions and managing finances.
  • Information in the module needs to be delivered in a manner that is non-threatening and provides motivation, support and comfort for the learner.
  • Provide comfort to the learner that their feelings are not uncommon and that they are not alone in their situation.

Interesting bits

  • The module was delivered on CD – 100,000 CDs were produced for collection via the Child Support Agency website...
  • The "Toolbox" within the module allowed the learner to collect and store over 200 relevant pieces of information, as they progressed throughout the module. They were then able to print out this specific information at any time.
  • Working with a team of 23 professional actors (adults and kids) to portray the real people within the actual scenarios.
  • Using Tom's own backyard shed as an interface, which the client loved!
  • Focus group testing – throughout the module, development focus groups were held where real users trialed the prototype and provided important feedback to our development team.
